3.6. Boot ModeΒΆ
As detailed in the AM64x Technical Reference Manual (TRM), the ROM bootloader supports several boot modes, which can be broadly classified as:
Memory boot modes
Host boot modes
During a memory boot, the device (AM64x) transfers the second bootloader from non-volatile memory, such as, SDCard, eMMC, OSPI/QSPI/SPI flash, GPMC flash, or USB(Mass Storage).
During a host boot, the device (AM64x) is configured to receive the second bootloader from a host via the selected interface, such as UART or USB(DFU).
The following sections describe the usage of these boot modes in details.
Commonly used boot mode switch settings on the AM64x EVM are also listed at the end of the section for quick reference.
